Vanderlande provides baggage handling systems for 600 airports around the globe, capable of moving over 4 billion pieces of baggage around the world per year. For the parcel market our systems handle 52 million parcels per day.

We are seeking an experienced cloud (Azure) engineer, with proficiency in Java, to join our team to support in the development of the MyVanderlande Customer Web Portal, aid in the consolidation of our cloud infrastructure, and act as a cloud evangelist for the department. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in building cloud native solutions with experience implementing Azure services (managed with Terraform & Bicep), including but not limited to Azure Kubernetes, Azure CosmosDB, Azure Search, Azure Enterprise Service Bus, and Azure Functions. In addition, the candidate will have a good working knowledge of Java and be well-versed in software development and DevOps principles. 

• Consolidate legacy cloud infrastructure and support the migration from Bicep to Terraform.
• Optimize cloud expenditure and minimize waste across services.
• Share knowledge within the team and work with the DevOps & Architecture guilds to build standards and best practices for cloud engineering.
• Review and update existing infrastructure as code (Terraform) modules to comply with best practices.
• Collaborate to integrate the portal with various Azure services, including Azure Kubernetes, Azure CosmosDB, Azure Search, Azure Enterprise Service Bus, and Azure Functions.
• Work with other developers to design and implement microservice architecture using Docker and Azure Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with the other team members to ensure that the portal is correctly deployed and maintained.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers.
• Use Jira to track and manage development tasks and project progress.
• Provide occasional support in the design, development, and maintenance of the customer web portal using Java. 

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in cloud and software engineering.
• Extensive and demonstrable cloud knowledge with significant experience using Azure services including Azure Kubernetes, Azure CosmosDB, Azure Search, Azure Enterprise Service Bus, Azure Functions, etc.
• Cloud certification(s) such as Azure Solutions Architect.
• Clear experience with Scrum and DevOps methodologies and practices.
• Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, Maven etc.), knowledge of C# is a plus.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Able to share Azure skills, best practices and knowledge with the team and is open to share knowledge on Azure department wide.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team environment.

Period of deployment    : 2-6 till 31-12-2025 
Weekly deployment    : 40 hours a week   
Work location        :  Veghel       
Remote working    : It is possible to work from home for max. 2 days a week.
Maximum rate        : € 70,00 - € 80,00 competitive  
Working distance        : living within a radius of 60 minutes from (requirement of the customer)
