What you do
Centric IT Solutions is growing its Data Platform Engineering team and looking for a Senior Devops and Cloud Engineer to help shape how we manage, process, and deliver data at scale to our municipality clients in the Netherlands.
You will architect and build a data platform that empowers our clients to leverage infrastructure for insights into their daily operations, while enabling us to deliver next-generation infrastructure and develop innovative, data-driven products.
A critical part of this role is contributing to our infrastructure strategy in line with emerging European trends around data sovereignty, data residency, and platform resilience. You will build and operate platforms across public and private cloud environments, ensuring compliance with evolving European data regulations and sovereignty requirements.
You will design resilient, secure, and future-proof infrastructure with a strong focus on compute, networking, storage, IAM, automation, observability, and security principles.

A summary of your responsibilities:
- Design and implement a scalable data platform covering ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers.
- Build and maintain automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning and deployment pipelines using CI/CD practices.
- Develop and operate cloud-native and containerized platforms using Kubernetes, Docker, and DevOps best practices.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and DevOps teams to define platform architecture, standards, and quality policies.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data platform components — build, release, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Develop and maintain observability solutions using Prometheus and Grafana, including metrics, dashboards, logging integrations, and alerting for workloads running across cloud and private cloud environments.
- Drive Infrastructure-as-Code adoption across data environments using Terraform.
- Contribute actively to architecture and design reviews, ensuring data platform decisions align with business goals.
- Partner with IT operations and architects to deliver AIS / Acceptance Into Service documentation and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security policies, scalability standards, and security principles, including vulnerability management awareness.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers; advocate for DataOps and platform engineering best practices.
- Support platform design decisions across public and private cloud environments, with focus on compute, networking, storage, IAM, and secure connectivity.
