Centric Romania is building its AI capability from a strong engineering foundation and has set a clear ambition: to become the reference center of excellence for AI adoption across the entire Centric group.

The AI Lead owns this journey end to end — defining strategy, leading the AI function, and moving the office from today's early experimentation to embedded, systematic practice, and from AI-augmented engineering toward agentic AI in production. This is a leadership role that blends strategy, applied-AI depth, governance, and commercial awareness.

Key responsibilities

Setting the vision and roadmap for AI, from AI-augmented delivery toward agentic AI
Championing and embedding the use of AI across existing engineering and delivery teams
Contributing to creation of AI – first products and reusable assets
Establishing and leading the group-wide AI center of excellence
Client facing advisory and commercial impact
Defining and standing up dedicated AI roles (AI Architect, AI Engineers) as the function grows
Driving measurable progress in AI adoption and ROI — from experimentation to AI embedded in delivery and production
Overseeing the deployment of AI-assisted work and features into production
Drives the adoption of AI initiatives and proven PoC’s into existing products — influencing product and delivery stakeholders to move validated experiments into production

Ensuring ethical and compliant use of AI and data (EU AI Act, GDPR)
Owning the AI PoC framework — timeboxed, business-case-driven pilots
Evaluating and selecting AI tooling, vendors, cloud, and infrastructure
Driving innovation through partnerships, pilots, and emerging tech
Reporting AI outcomes, ROI, and progress to executive leadership
Leading upskilling, certifications, and the AI Champions Network
Integrating AI competencies into the positioning-level career ladder
Collaborating with stakeholders across delivery, product, legal, and engineering

Skills and requirements

15+ years in software engineering, solution architecture
Experience leading technical teams and driving technology adoption
Track record delivering AI capabilities into production
Strong understanding of LLMs, RAG, AI-assisted development, and agentic AI
Experience setting technical direction and metrics for success

Proven ability to influence and drive change across the organization — securing executive buy-in and building broad adoption of AI across teams
Familiarity with ethical AI and regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, GDPR)
Confidence working with product and engineering leadership
Experience managing budgets, vendors, and platforms
Ability to build capability at scale — upskilling and communities of practice
